Bus driver disciplined for attempting to run over cyclist

the cyclist does seem like a bit of a tit riding there in the first place... plonker!

Instant judgement from someone who doesn't know the circumstances. In the parts of the cycle track I have used, the start of the bus track is quite confusing and I can easily see how someone would end up going straight on onto the bus track rather than diverting onto the cycle track if they were not familiar with it. But hey, don't let any evidence get in the way of a good ol' lynching.

Isn't that atempted murder? She knew what she was doing and surely she must have known of the possible outcome.

Of course the cyclist was wrong to ride there anyway but that's beside the point.

If the cyclist was where they were supposed to be - nothing.

As they weren't then by wearing headphones it may have stopped them from hearing the bus waiting for them to get out of the guided bus lane and onto to dedicated cycle path where they belonged.

Ahhh sorry, i forgot it was ok to ram people off the road if they shouldn't be there.

Someone else will find it for me I'm sure, but there was a post regarding this when it first happened, which had an element of being on the bus drivers side. He/she didn't come across well at all, as the impression you got from their comments was 'I saw the bike, he shouldn't have been there, I hooted and he didn't move and I ran him over.'

I agree on the very loose facts we've seen I think the police should prosecute, but there may be more to the case. At the very least by being disciplined the cyclist should be able to win a civil case against the bus company and get a new bike.

Well, we wouldn't expect a train drive to get "disciplined" if some idiot was trying to cycle on the railway.

But of course, that would never happen with a railway, which is what this stupid guided busway should have been.

i like this thread - i used to live not far from part of the 'guided busway' in cambridge. yes, people used it as a track cos it was 3 years late in being finished and it made for a wikkid blast around the city without having to think aboot traffic too often...people still use it as a track now that there are buses on it. i feel sorry for the cyclist and hope they were alright, the bus driver would've easily seen them as the busway is proper wide and flat, it wouldn't have taken someone with the reactions of usain bolt on crack to have pulled up and avoid the collision so it was defo a dumb move...that being said, they don't go that fast on the busway, i could beat a bus down there - Gaz, they'd be struggling to keep up with a cyclist of your speed.

Well some car drivers get confused (Two Cars Driven onto Busway in One Day) so I guess some cyclists may as well - although on this occasion I think the said cyclist took to the busway because the cycle track was closed for surfacing work.

The local council were so stupid they didn't specify a raised cycle track so it didn't flood in about 6 places making it impassable for 95% of the year. If the cycle way had been built first and properly there wouldn't be cyclists on the actual busway itself. But having said that it was a really smooth surface and a joy to cycle on .

If a train driver deliberately speeded up to mow the b'stard down and there was evidence of that yes I would expect them to be disciplined too
