There are a lot of timed bus lanes in London, which cars can use out of hours.

When driving, if I'm familiar with the area, or if my wife has been eagle-eyed and read the small print on one of the signs, I may use them. Otherwise I just stay out. I got mixed up a bit last year and used one before 7am when it turned out it was a permanent one. Got a ticket. Bang to rights.
