Has anyone notice that when you suddenly switch from rural to urban areas, you are greeted by a heatwave... I rekon humidity has somthing to do with how noticeable it is, but sometimes you can actually pin-point which houses have their heating switched on or not as you ride past..

I notice that in the centre of town, with open shops, restaurants, (Buses) etc, its definitely warmer.

I also think the cold elements... like fog, mist etc find it harder to settle in town because of all the "background" heat. Normally I get about 10 miles in and the temp drops a fair chunk...but by then I am suffering like Scud (above)

Buses left me alone on Waterloo Bridge tonight it was the cab squadron that got me.

Oh - missing bike trips- need to shake the cold (another one) and get out again to experience this warming phenomenon

Funny you say that I was touching the rear end of a bus  on London Bridge this afternoon and it was lovely and warm.(I wasn't moving I was stuck in traffic)

I think I must have been thinking about this thread.

I remember enquiring into smog masks because of this. It is lovely to be warmed up on a cold morning/day/night by the bus exhausts, but then you realise/remember what you're inhaling :S

I think we need to bring back the fireplace - at least to the pub, then the home, finally the workplace. Can you believe how 'deprived' we are that we actually have to warm ourselves at the back of stationary buses!

I was in a city yesterday and for the first time was aware of the heat coming off a multi storey car park from all the parked cars inside. I wonder if anyone knows of any carparks where they harvest that heat for feeding into a heating system or similar?

you've already seen someone commuting on a double bed Jonny, all we need now is someone travelling home in an entire bedroom, complete with roaring fire, I'll draft that
