I like my army surplus Trangia. A nice size for packing and £10 from www.surplusandadventure.com . Bargain.

Does it burn wood?

Hubbike - the instructions on backpackinglight look pretty old - designs have come on wince then - in particular they are now adjustable. The instructions from the Bushwhacker site are very comprehensive - well worth the $5 they are asking for them. They recommend using a Dremel.

The tgo article I was referring to is in the current (Feb '09) issue. It's by an eccentric former Boy Scout called Eddie Meechan and he makes a few interesting points.
