I also used Vistaprint a couple of years ago for some Headed paper. I must admit they were OK, but I still get an annoying e-mail from them every day without fail telling me what a good customer I've been.

Just a thought - Moo cards are good

www.moo.com

Just quite expensive, superb quality, especially if you're uploading photos/graphics onto them. They're recommended by a lot of people in the creative industries - I'm just not sure I have the cash for this at the moment but may well go for them unless others know of a business card designer and printer service.

+1 excellent service and quality

Advantage.

I've never had business cards from them but I've had flyers, posters and all manner of other stuff, from designs I've uploaded. I've tried a lot and found them to be the fastest, most reliable and easiest to use.

moo can **** you about heavily, I'd go with local printers and design it myself in photoshop, but my cards are very very very simple
What happened with moo David? I've only heard glowing stuff about them so it would be good to get a balanced view as I'm leaning towards moo

the quality is nice, deffo, but they told a friend of mine his cards had shipped, blaiming the courier, turns out they hadn't been printed yet and there was argy bargy, I'm not sure if its because my mate was being a bit of a tosser (these things happen) or something funny at their end :s

We use a local printer, but only print in black on one side on white card, 500 business cards for £35+VAT. We have the .eps file and just send it as artwork to the cheapest printer we can find... Staples were quite good IIRC.

Staples use poor quality card stock. The cards turn out too thin and cheap looking. IMO.

part of it depends what you shoot too, as I shoot a lot of commercial a working relationship with local printers and designers is dead handy

Most of my stuff is for web usage, documentary work and commercial portrait. Very different requirements but always good to build relationships and network with people. Being in the smoke, there is no shortage...it's just trying to separate the wheat from the chaff!

I should be working and sorting some stuff out but bloody hell I'm arsing about on here!

Well, going.against the flow here but I had business cards done by vistaprint and am very happy with it. Trouble is, they won't leave me alone now. Get emails everyday with special offers. Offers are.good but by the time you had delivery charges, it is not a good deal anymore. A.bit like ryanair!

There's a tiny link at the bottom of the spam sendouts- just unsubscribe from them.

I had a good run with Vistaprint but the penultimate order was a bit crud - the edge of the card was trimmed and partially trimmed off some text- wasn't bad enough for me to worry as they were receipt type things but the business cards this time were awful. I've heard from a few friends how they had bad experiences as well.

Staples were unable to print my wedding invite inserts properly, blaming my artwork for the pixilation

to this day i still have no idea how they managed to pixelate a print ready high quality PDF file that was set to industry standards - ah well.

Did them myself overnight on my inkjet as my wife turned into bridezilla about them getting done on time.

Most people I know who've had vista print do them have been happy with quality, some of the standard templates do leave a little to be desired, but the main issue people have had is that they aren't the ''normal'' business card size.
