Fairly typical of the local rag to produce this sort of article after all consulations have gone through:
http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Bristo...g-restaurant/story-21113376-detail/story.html

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm tired of reading about business owners who seem to think that everyone who steps through their door must have arrived by car. My work colleagues and I had a meal last friday lunchtime in this very establishment and walked the 300 yards from our office!. It took a few minutes.

Oh, and isn't that a car park behind them?. There's ample of parking near here anyway, an average of about two minutes walk.

Those of you in Bristol reading this will realise, of course, that this is another cycling-bashing article produced by the Bristol Post who aren't exactly cycling friendly.

well in general, I see cycle lanes as "a bad thing" for cycling and cyclists (for all the standard reasons which I won't repeat now). I live and work in Bristol and commute on a bike daily. Does that make me anti-cycling?

PS the Bristol Post is indeed a rag

So it was convenience that brought customers to his restaurant?

"Customers can no longer park outside – the council hasn't thought about the effect of this on my business."

Since when was it the councils responsibility to provide free parking for a private companies customers?
The councils priority is the the general public at large.

The racks by Roll for the Soul get well used showing that if there is somewhere to lock up your bike near by that cyclists will use them.
If that's the Roll for the Soul I know I think the answer might be a little more complex than that ;)

I did read somewhere that research shows that for local high street businesses, most of the feet through their door are local anyway and don't use cars.
Why do you say that?
Popular with non-cyclists and when I was there Oct 13 the racks were full and people were just leaving their bikes outside.

Velocity in Inverness didn't even have racks iirc. And CycleHub in Newcastle was undersupplied with same. Both veh popular with cyclists but then we are a funny lot.

Does Mud Dock in Brizzle have ample decent racks? I can't remember for the life of me where I parked my bike when I went there.

Mud dock deli has about half a dozen racks I think, don't think I've ever eaten at the main one but I've been in the shop so I must have locked the bike up somewhere.
