Got my heart set on one of these, after ruling out a Carrera Gryphon and Specialized Sirrus.

Enquired in my two local bike shops, but neither had stock in an 18" frame. However, one store said they could certainly order in - but they didn't seem massively interested in my custom, which put me off a little.

I see Tredz have one online at £450, plus a tenner for next day delivery.

Butler 600 - good bike for £450? (It's for my daily commute to work. 10-mile round trip. Road and light trail)
Tredz - reputable website?
Are mail delivery bikes advised?

Your thoughts...
Thanks.

I have a Levante - cost a little more, has skinnier wheels, has done a couple of thousand miles without incident (apart from those i have caused!) very happy with it so far.

Mail order should be fine - they should build it for you and then you'll probably just have to straighten the handlebars and add the pedals - both simple tasks, the only thing i would suggest and expect most would echo this is that it would be wise to test ride before you buy it....

I have the explorer 400 and apart from being heavy it's not a bad commuter. couple of issues with the rear wheel popping spokes initially but swopped it and fine since.

I would have a think about the front shocks - they weigh plenty and will be a hindrance if you are not going off-road much.

+1 to this. Had the Explorer 400 before my current bike. Yes it's heavy and at the price you're paying you could probably get something with a higher spec - but it'll do the commute day in and day out without any bother (mine was doing 3-4k a year).

Tredz is a well known shop - had stuff from them in the past with no problems.
