i had a samsung E900 which had some buttons on it that were touch screen (just for the novelty i believe) and it was useless as you never knew if you'd touched it or not or if you'd touched it and it had recognised it, so you'd be there thumb slapping it while it did nothing and then it'd press itself a few times while trying to sort itself out

me and phones don't get on.

Just got a nokia 5800, hate mobiles but need one for work, and i actually like this one. You can make the touch screen buttons as big as you like which is good for my oversized puddies. Fast as well, and it vibrates to let you know youve touched a button. Nice and simple ...............like moi!

Satnav is very good once you get used to it. I`ve normaly used my in dash sat nav, but have found myself using the nokia maps instead. Seems easier to use. Great for the sunday club runs when (not if) we get lost in the North Yorkshire country lanes.

There is a tracker program for SE with GPS.
Tried it last night and it's tracks time v distance v speed.

Not sure if it logs your journey route but this doesn't matter as I do the same commute daily.

Ran it in the car for a challenge on the bike.

Keep us updated on the 5800

Due a new phone, so if this tracks and does sat nav then this would be very useful. For tracking, can you upload the route to pc, and then download at a later date to follow again, or can you download routes to it ?

As much as I know of this fone you should be able to put any [app]lication on it and it'll run as these kind of phones are becoming mini-laptops...

Prefer buttons on my phone to a touch screen as I have big digits and can often touch the wrong bit of the screen just picking the phone up.

I would like a touch screen on my laptop though, with a stylus, to reduce use of the mouse. I liked having that feature on my old Psion 5. i found it a better way to quickly sketch what I meant when describing something and then add it into a document or email.

Buttons for me too, more reliable I feel. Got a samsung g600 at the moment, but still prefer my old d600 as its more responsive and feels stronger and less fragile.

I was always a utilitarian phone person...

I still am. We were cycling round the hills this morning and the two guys I was with were talking about the sat-nav on their phones. I said "My phone's really cool, I can actually telephone other people with it!"

I did get fed up with a really basic Nokia brick, fancied a nicer phone, so got a Nokia 6300. Even that is wasted on me as all I ever do is text and call anyway.

I have had a play with touch screen phones, guy at work has one and my brother and sister in law have iPhones, but I didn't like them at all. Even the buttons on the 6300 are too small and flat for my liking.
