Buy Cheap and Save Noooooo

Hi All,

Last year was my first year of "keep fit" cycling so as the cooler weather approached I bought some cycling
long padded trousers, a couple of pairs in fact as they seemed such a bargain.
Wasn't that impressed to be honest, and I'm easily impressed. Never did unwrap the second pair.

As the weather improved this spring on the advice of a mate who rides with the Cambridge club I bought
a pair of Endura bib shorts with the 600 pad. I was so pleased with these that with the chilly evenings
approaching I have just taken delivery of a pair of bib longs of the same make.

I ask myself, "why didn't I buy these in the first place"?

With Nov 5th not far away I'm sure the kids in the village can make use of a pair of Crane trousers;
which begs another question, was Guy Fawkes a cheapskate cyclist ?

Cheers,
Paul G

Or is it that the more you spend the more insecure you are ?

So you were a little too embarrassed at the club were you. It happens.

Either of those couldn't be further from the truth.
The post is about one quality item being better than a whole heap of tat.Paul G
I wear their 100% Merino pullovers and vests. They even do a merino compression top.

I'm trying to think of something of low quality and can only think of their commuter shorts. Being 100% cotton the seat has worn too fast, but I'd guessed it might when I bought it in their reduced price sale.

Peleton wear it all ain't.

Oh, I'd suggest not buying todays merino cycling johns.

My Marks and Spencer ones wore too fast cycling and I cannot quite see how these will not too.

Who can remember 5 or 6 years ago when Endura were viewed as a budget brand? Little has changed with Endura itself, but I guess that there's now a tier of super budget stuff below them from the like of Aldi etc, so the perspective has changed rather than the product.

That said, cheap can successfully be cheerful. My favourite General purpose cycle jacket is an Aldi job about to enter it 3rd winter of regular use, and its comfortable, well designed, and wearing very well.

The two pairs of trousers that I bought were indeed from Aldi.

I am 'possibly' a little bit of a cycling snob, in as much as I buy big brand names.

Part of the reason for this is that they look great, partly that their performance is mostly great, but mostly that I believe you buy cheap you buy twice (or even thrice).
