I have a T500 and it's fine for commuting and even some pleasure rides. Change the tyres when you can, the wheels will be ok for six months or so especially through the winter. Change the brake blocks immediately and pedals (and saddle) to suit your own preferences, otherwise it's a great bike for the money.

Thanks for the info. I'm not finding much info on the quality of the carbon used in the Peggio other than the company that makes it also makes a cheap carbon bike for Argos (Ventura C50) by Lyiang Bikes in Taiwan.
The Peggio linked to above comes from ZGL bikes (China) which might or might not be a subsidiary of Lyiang.
So it looks like I might go for the Triban.
