We have just bought a dishwasher on line and true to form, we got a phone call two days later trying to sell insurance to protect it . The dishwasher is not coming until Saturday but they are already pestering me with insurance. If I want insurance, I will call them, not the other way round, beside, I never give my bank account details over the phone, no matter who it is.

Was told by Currys that if you need to extend your warranty you should do it in-store as you get a better deal. we saved £12 on our Laptop warranty not a lot of money but every little helps

We've bought a few things from AO - yes you get the insurance call, but a polite no thanks has always been sufficient and they haven't pestered us again.

They're not as cheap as they used to be though.

nope definitely gone up in price. Nearly every online retailers is dropshipping from a massive white goods distribution company in Manchester service pretty much the same from all of them

Let them have their fun before GDPR kicks in.

GDPR won’t stop cold calls from all companies who will be able to keep your data while you remain one of their customers. Which will last at least as long any warrently period for any product you buy.

It should though reduce the selling of your information to third party insurance companies.

I still think GDPR is a naive attempt to control the flow of personal information years after the flood gates were blown off their hinges.
