Hello there!
I am going to by buying my first road bike (in a good few years), and I am stuck between two bikes or two different stores.

I am looking at two different bikes and don't know which ones to buy.
I am looking at:
Jamis Ventura Sport 2013 Road Bike (£390 on 20% off deal)
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/jamis/ventura-sport-2013-road-bike-ec041509
and

B'TWIN Triban 5 Road Bike, Black (£425)
http://www.decathlon.co.uk/btwin-triban-500-id_8239801.html#anchor_ComponentCrossSelling
or maybe

Specialized Allez Compact 2013 Road Bike (£495)
http://www.evanscycles.com/products...Display&utm_medium=Criteo&utm_campaign=Criteo

Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Of that list, the B'Twin has a better drivetrain and is the only one with a carbon fork. I think I would probably go for that one, unless one of the others felt better to ride.

Evans are happy to allow test rides (need ID & a debit card), so go ride the Jamis and Specialized. At Decathlon, you ride around the store, go when it's quiet

Hey.

As an Allez rider my self I would tell anyone to get on the specialized band wagon. I have always gone specialized from my first brand new bike purchase. And I changed pace last year to the Allez after being a mtb man for years. They are bomb proof and a great starting bike. I my self inspire to own the full carbon S works in time (I work to much for to little pay lol.)

Besides all that I would definetly recommend getting your measurements right and getting the correct size frame. A mate of myn asked me loads of questions and decided off the bat to go and splurge 600 pounds on a second hand road bike. It's around 4 cm to small for him and over time that justis causes pains and aches. So my advise is really go to the bike shop and get measured and then get on gumtree/eBay there are hundreds of like new bikes out thare and you can save as much as 50% of the retail just by getting a bike from last season. You can always upgrade chain sets and wheels when you become obsessed with average speeds and performance on hill climbs. Think that's just about it mate. Get it right first time and no one can wipe the smile off your face.

Happy hunting and if you have and questions just drop me a line back

I will be taking delivery of a Merlin Malt r tomorrow, it's £499 with carbon forks and a tiagra gearset.

Best deal i could find for the money. Plus they will do interest free finance.

And that's the main thing whether that be a ten grand or starter road bike, well done enjoy! :-)

Devoutly.
Now all I need to do is get all my clothing, then I'll be able to go out on longer rides then just 30 minutes haha.
Can't wait, hopefully going to join a club when I get better.
