Tonight's supper, made from a mix of yellow sticker and store cupboard ingredients; chicken and mushrooms in a white wine and tarragon sauce, rice, carrots and romanesco cauliflower. Was made from 1/2 a cooked chicken (the whole chicken was marked down to £1.35 from £4.50), punnet of mushrooms - 9p, one glass wine (freezer staple - from a bottle I won at a cat show), tarragon (dried, from bunch costing 7p), one onion, rice (store cupboard staple - Tesco value long grain), carrots (3 large, from bag that cost 10p) & cauliflower - 10p. I still have chicken and veggies for tomorrow, all I need to add to that lot is a jacket spud.
The other half of the chicken was added to a homemade pasta sauce made from one tetrapak of passata, an onion, dried oregano, garlic, garlic oil (all cupboard staples here) plus some olives from the 1kg platter I picked up on new year's eve for 55p. It's in the fridge for now, but will turn it into a pasta bake and top with the tub of buffalo mozzarella I picked up for 50p. Might add some parmesan or provolone to that too...
I do love to cook with yellow sticker stuff
Oh yes, and the cats got their share of the chicken too.
