Hi all
Here's a little summary of how our journey went it was an amazing week away with my 11 year old son he had a great time the weather was fabulous for the most part.
We had booked no where along the route was just going to take our time and see where we ended up each night so we took full camping set up in the burley nomad trailer.
Distance and height was measured off my strava app.
Arrived in whitehaven on Thursday evening, stayed in a B+B nice and relaxing before we started.
Friday:
Damp start
Very well signed to get out of whitehaven.
Nice easy start weather warmed up nicely
Found a lovely camp site at low lorton
21 miles / 1503 FT
Saturday :
Low lorton to Troutbeck
Weather was very hot and quite a bit of climbing.
We wild camped found lovely remote quite place.
19 miles / 2332 FT
Sunday :
Troutbeck to Edenhall
Fabulous weather a bit too hot.
Stopped at a fabulous hotel at Edenhall quite expensive we decided to have a rest day here it was getting too hot.
27 miles / 1302 FT
Monday :
Rest day
Walked around Edenhall - a beautiful little village with the most amazing bus shelter perfect for a wild camp.
Tuesday :
Edenhall to Haggs bank bunk house
Quite a lot of climbing today weather was very hot slow going today.
Some amazing views, bit of a tough day.
22 miles / 2638 FT
Wednesday :
Haggs bank bunk house to Rookhop.
Very stiff climb to start with very warm day so we took it very slow found a lovely little bunk house just outside of rookhop.
15 miles / 1266 FT
Thursday :
Rookhop to Sunderland.
The weather was very misty.
Our last day and first real mistake, we took the off road route to park head station this is really no good for a trailer as the path is very narrow and rutted it took us 4hrs to do 7 miles we had to drag and carry the trailer between us.
A bacon sandwich and coffee at park head station revived us.
All down hill from there, arriving at rocker pier at 6 in the evening then photos and chips.
Picked up by the wife an hour later.
Amazing journey.
Planning our next trip - Hebridian way

Hardly a mistake because you were following the C2C route, or at least one option of it.

That track is known to be rough, I heard a couple of riders in Parkhead cafe saying they couldn't stay aboard on their mountain bikes.

No doubt you were pleased to see the gently downhill and well made gravel track of the Waskerley Way that follows.
