Just back from my employers Cycle to work introduction shindig and it all looks good getting a £1000 for £756, with costs spread over twelve months.

Only Halfords were displaying their goods, Carrera's and Boardmans and I liked the look of a Boardman Road Comp. Currently its £749.99.

Stopped on my way home at the local bike shop and he could supply a Cube Peloton Pro for £799.

I'm currently communting on a Virtuoso and having some nice rides at the weekend it gets a bit hilly in this part of N.Wales so would like three rings.

Of course I need to get on the bikes and try them before buying, any advice would be greatly recieved though

Thanks Sean

Sean the only advice I would give is try and get the best specification for your money I would ensure emphasis is on a good pair of wheels and a good groupset (the gears and chainset). I think Planet X, Ribble, should be the kind of bikes you should be looking at and not Halfords because you can customise with the former you cant with halfords. Watch out because Ribble seem to be renowned for poor customer service alhtough there are good reviews on their bikes. Personaly I would take the 1000 and get a bike which can be combined both for work and pleasure. If you plan to do more for example sportives then you might want a lighter bike for getting up hills and depending on your fitness. strength level you might want a tripple or compact - On this froum there are plenty of topics Compact v Standard v Triple and there is alos plenty of threads on "What Bike" Good luck and Im sure fellow cyclechatters will jump in with a little more advice
