Not here offten enough to argue
It's a lovely looking bike. The Planet X one is also rather tasty. Decisions, decisions.
it does - but with the gran fondo you got £100 to spend on bits ^_^

I think the main thing geometry wise (broadly speaking) is shorter wheelbase = accelerate faster/turns better/lest stable at lower speeds. But I'm no expert and , in any case what you're looking for is a comfortable bike and that's largely down to how you set up your bike.

I'd also hazard a guess than some of the carbon framed Ribble bikes are identical to the carbon framed Dolan. I suspect this because I have a surosa winter trainer bike. After doing a bit of noseying around and also observations of Ribble and Dolans in the flesh, the Ribble (winter) and Dolan (preferriso) Alu frames appear identical (as per my Surosa)

Wheels-what are the ones you're looking at on each bike? difficult to quickly tell from the links.

Wheels - the Planet X comes with Shimano RS10
Ribbles come with Rodi Airline
Dolan has Mach 1 Omega

However, the Dolan only has 48cm frame in stock at the moment. My C2W scheme at work does it in "purchase windows" but I guess I could wait for the next one if I really want the Dolan.

As far as spec goes, is the SRAM better than the Shimano Tiagra? What I've heard suggests it is.

I think the SRAM stuff is lighter?

Depends what you mean by better. They will both shift nice and clean (I have tiagra on both my road bikes-very happy with it).

The gear change is a simple system on the shimano. Is the sram similar?

However....DON'T GET A SHIMANO CHAIN. THEY ARE SHAT....

I do have shimano 105 levers on my better bike as the cables go under the handlebar tape so looks neater. Not sure what the Apex ones do?

I think the Planet X looks best, although they're all good bikes for the money.

Anyone feel like talking me out of it?

To be fair one is guaranteed to make a saving using C2W, it just irks me continually that the websites promoting the schemes peddle this b.s. that you save upwards of 30%; because if you actually want to buy the bike after 1 year the most you'll save is about 15%. Why they don't just advetise that, I don't know. It strikes me as a trading standards issue, really.

Regards topping up the voucher, my local Giant Store says you can do that although they didn't say anything about restrictions or licences or such. But, LET'S FACE IT, the scheme is designed and promoted for getting bikes for commuting, and I really do doubt anyone needs to spend more than a grand for that. Wanting to spend more is vanity.

I agree with all of that. It's ironic that the higher tax bracket you are in, the more money you can save on it.

It arrived today!
Was hoping it would get here in the morning, so I could go out for a quick lunchtime blast. Away this weekend, so no riding it until next week. :-(
It's so light!! 8kg according to the bathroom scales
(in retrospect Ben, wouldn't it have been easier to carry the scales downstairs to the kitchen rather than carrying the bike up 2 flights of stairs to the bathroom? Why yes. Yes it would)
