cable change on campagnolo ergo

Pretty straightforward- try and get a feel for where everything goes before you take the old cable off.

I prefer to take the lever off by lifting the back of the hood and unscrewing with a hex key.

Fold the hood back down and feed the gear cable (make sure it's not the brake cable) through the hole in the top of the ratchet which you can see through the slot in the hood next to the thumb shift. Then lift up the back of the hood again and this will reveal the guide - push the cable down it and it should come out at the back. Half the job done.

Next - you can take the lever off but without the proper equipment this is best avoided as the pin is very stubborn. Instead, open the lever and you should see the light of a small guide on the left hand side by the thumb shift - you just need to thread the brake cable though the securing ring and then through the guide -and it should pop out the back.

Job done.

Above poster is over complicating things and has too much time on his or her hands. No need whatever to remove the Ergo, or the lever. Brake cable can be removed, just tape the brake to the bars after slackening off the cable and pull out. For the gear, peel back the hood, disconnect the cable and push it out. A torch is handy for rethreading, shine in from the back to guide your way.

I only "over-complicate" by taking off the lever so I can see what I'm doing - it takes a couple of minutes...

Condor once told me off sternly for having used a Shimano cable, I still don't know why, bar having to file a gnats off the head of the metal lump bit at the head of the cable, it worked just fine

otherwise, yes, easy job once you know you don't have to take anything to bits as some online guides suggest
