Cheap ciggies i used to smoke.Thank god i never got into smoking .Dumped them after a few packets.I could not see why i should set fire to money.

I was a sea cadet for many years and I loved it. Assuming she doesn't harbour desires to join one of the services, or to do activities closely associated with one branch or another, such as sailing, flying etc then I'd say the main difference will be in the local units. I'd suggest she visits them, she can go along and get a feel for them without committing. Largely its the enthusiasm and interests of the adult volunteers that make a unit rather than an, and its important she 'fits' that feel to get the most out it of her time with them.

Spot on, I'd say. I loved being a Scout, but I know a large part of that is that we were lucky to have a really good leader. I'm sure all of them would offer good fun activities, but what will make or break it is the people leading it.

I was an army cadet as a kid and am now an AI with the Army Cadets. I would suggest (as others have already) that your child goes to a few meetings at each, and see which they like best.

There are some exceptionally good units, and some not so good. It would be unwise for me to recommend any of them over the other as the best run unit should stand out.

The 'basics' of the training are pretty much the same whichever choice is made.

My elder son joined the Air Cadets and had a great time! He flew in gliders and Powered Aircraft and thoroughly enjoyed it, so much so he decided to join the RAF and try to be a pilot. Sadly a one off fit while at University put paid to all of that and his sky diving which he'd recently taken up.

Any with the right volunteers. I often think back to the quality of gent and lady ( Akela ) who took me through cubs, scouts and boys brigade. Probably sounds a bit old fashioned now but it was the people giving up loads of free time that I remember most. I thought about volunteering myself from time to time, but I guard my free time jealously.
