That would be hard work, but potentially lots of fun.

I like the idea of a cafe that appeals to all sorts of cyclists - big pieces of homebaked cake and/or fruity flapjacks, fryups and/or nice wholefoody salads. Decent coffee, huge mugs of tea. Plus of course, lots of good cycleparking (covered would be perfect) and large collection of tools/trackpumps to borrow.

Location is key. Get the right place, and you can appeal to walkers and other outdoorsy people too.

Sound like it could be a plan to me.

NT and I were talking about it recently, not as a plan for us, but because some friends of hiswere thinking of taking on a cafe. He was saying that the trick is to find ways to appeal to lots of groups of people, by providing them with their own specific needs, and perhaps by organising events to attract them in - like night rides for cyclists, or, if you've got a nice dark rural location, astronomy evenings.

Add in a 'nothing is too much trouble' policy (like catering for dietary needs by adapting menus as needed), and find a few regular clients, like clubs, and you might do well....
