Calais to Montpellier

I am setting off for my first overseas adventure next month;

Just wondered if anyone had any experience of cycling in France and has any tips or advice.

If you wander over to www.cycle-endtoend.org.uk and dig around in the Journals you'll find the trip we did in 2008 - by the sound of it the same route. The book about it is called Wine-ding Down Through France ... with a Foreword by Edward Enfield (Harry's dad) who inspired the trip with his book Downhill All The Way.

It was a brilliant trip - better than the JOGLE & LEJOG that I've also ridden - so good that our cycling club rode it again in 2014, although I was seriously ill and couldn't ride. I WILL be doing it again. France is close to Utopia fro cycling.

If you need water, all cemeteries have a standpipe/tap near their entrances.
