Calf strain and riding

I picked up a calf strain a few days ago just walking along. It's eased slightly and I'm itching to get out on the bike.

The question is should I ride or rest?

A bit of a head or heat decision I suppose.

Are you stretching and icing / heat?

I know how you feel about the wanting to get out and ride especially now the sun is shining. Unfortunately, ice and stretching won't suffice for me  Will do a couple of miles to town though, make me feel better about the coffee and cake to be consumed

Using ice and stretching. I read somewhere some deep heat before riding will also help.

When using Ice 20mins on and allow one hour following numbing before reapplying ice ... Before heading out always trying stretching and when you use deep heat this will help keep the muscle warm therefore increasing the blood flow to the injured area, try using the rub instead of the spray tho.

Good luck.

I'm glad I got out for a ride. Did 20 miles, over 1,000ft climbing. Took it steady. Almost no calf pain. Still sore walking but not cycling. Icing it now but looks like it won't stop me riding the bike.

It was a great day in the Brecon Beacons by the way
