Late 70's maybe 80's. I think it's re-sale value is about the Omega repair service estimation, yikes! It's not a sought after model but it has sentimental value. My father didn't leave me an Omega but a Voken worth maybe £30.............. to somebody who knew what a Voken was............god knows where he bought it, my mother thinks he might have been hard sold on a cruise ship.

I found out that it had a Seiko movement so had it serviced, then I had the case re-chromed, then added a good leather strap, probably spent about £100 on it, it's probably now worth about......................... £30.....................but it gives me pleasure.

My Seamaster was 380 dabs earlier this year but included new battery half link to strap and full service. Came back from Switzerland polished up and not looking 15 years old. YPFWYG.
Quick update. I bit the bullet and authorised Omega to carry out the work required.

It came back last Thursday, (nicely in time for Father's Day), and to say I'm happy is an understatement.

The watch looks like new. The paperwork lists a stack of new parts, they've returned the old parts as well.

The watch has been polished which has removed all scratches, the time and date we're set, small detail but never the less, and all the work has a 2 year warranty.

All communications were handled quickly and proffesionally, and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone.

So I've got my Dad's watch back, virtually as new and I know he'd have been chuffed to bits himself with the work they've done, Mum was made up with it too so altogether I'm a very happy individual.

Thanks to everyone for your advice.

They are real craftsmen aren't they. So glad it brings back great memories, that's what it's all about.

It has been interesting reading this thread . I have a Tissot Seastar quartz which has stopped working, most likely the battery . It seems like I'll have to save up my pennies for a while .
