I have a Calton I bought in the mid 70s second hand and I was hoping to identify it , date it and possibly find someone that is looking for a project.

Photos would not upload from my phone , sorry .

Serial numbers from the bottom bracket are :-
V4024
And either
10337
Or
103379 ( not sure about the 9)

welcome @ABCD , from memory you can't load pictures till you have done a few post's so get posting then add some pictures for us to help you .

If you are trying to re home your old Carlton it might pay to give people an idea of your location

Anyway sounds a nice bike

Thanks for the advice , I will try and add my Glasgow location to my post .

The bike has been unused (unloved) for a 'while' , as I now tend to use my tourer (and camp my way around the Scottish islands -slowly).
However, it is at least a survivor of a few house moves , and many a shed clear out.

Again after a few more posts you’ll be able to advertise it for free on here.

@Spokesmann is one of our resident Carlton experts so I’m sure he’ll be able to give you the info on your bike.
Cheers

Thanks for the info .

Nb I could not work out ( as yet )how to edit my profile (or post)to add my location as Glasgow .

However, I did manage to contact the guy who sold me the bike back in c1975, and he said it was given to his father who owned a garage , in lieu of payment in the 60s .
The guy was tickled that the bike was still in one piece, and that I was trying to find someone to take it on .

If it wasn't for the distance from Northamptonshire to Glasgow I might be knocking on your door

As far as I am aware either .
Just reply to anyposts and don't worry about it making sense it's only cycle chat:laugh:
Photos at last .

Not sure of the model, Continental possibly, previous owner says he obtained it in the late 60s second hand .

It was white , thus is not original paint , but most parts are original I assume , perhaps not the wheels .

The original saddle has been in continuous use on various

other bikes I rode over the years , now on my Specialised touring bike .
