I know that a camera, strictly speaking isn't a cycling accessory but many cyclists carry one. Unfortunately mine has gone to that big darkroom in the sky and I need to replace it. Can anybody suggests an inexpensive but robust compact that will withstand a certain amount of abuse.

Perhaps a Canon Ixus? These are compact, well-featured, and easy to use.

I have used the Lumix FT5 for a few years as a "throw in the bag". Waterproof and dustproof with GPS in some models (Goetagging NOT navigating)

YOu can get the FT3 / 4 / 5 for some good prices as older stock is cleared out for the latest models.. certainly sub £100

You havn't mentioned a budget, but two of the best compact cameras are the canon ixus 255 hs and 265hs

Thanks for your input guys and my apologies for not getting back sooner. At the moment I am using an old Olympus X-775 which has served me well for a number of years. I think I will hang on for a while and see if I can find a bargain on flea-bay.
