Looking for something with half decent capabilities and a bit of manual control, but not to break the bank, so maybe you have an old film slr in the cupboard or a high end compact from a few years ago?

Take a look at the fuji refurb store for a x10

The image quality is amazing and there's a code knocking around where you can get it for around £280

What's your budget - I have a Panasonic DMC FZ7 - very highly regarded, never really got on with it and just use a small Canon point & press. £50 by BACS + postage

Depends on your budget and what you shoot, but I have a Canon Powershot G11 available. I upgraded to the G12 after I noticed a small scratch on the lens which only shows up when I had clear skies for the landscapes I was doing, so if you don't do landscapes in clear blue skies, it will be fine... has RAW+/JPEG, manual foucs or auto, and full set of manual or auto on everything else including macro. Plus if I hunt far enough I should find the DVD's and the original canon battery and charger plus cable. open to offers because not many people I know (higher end of photography want a camera with a small scratch on the lens). pictures available if you are interested, but if you go to my journal most of the pictures between Hungary and Greece where taken on it, and you can see that the scratch does not normally interefere with the pictures.
