Eh,is it something I missed in Cyclecraft?Do you have to check them?
I don't know about Cyclecraft, but I do know about low-life mentality so I always check my brakes
and my quick releases after leaving my bike in public. I heard of one cyclist who had his front wheel come out when bunny-hopping a pothole after a cafe stop because some scum-bag had loosened his QRs

!
Even if you don't have such a cynical view of human nature, it is sensible to give your bike a quick check before riding it. I not only examine the brakes and QRs, I also check that the headset and handlebars are okay, and examine the tyres for cuts and embedded debris (glass, thorns etc.).
Another thing to watch out for is that the plugs in the ends of your handlebars are still there. In case of an accident, they stop the handlebars turning into
potentially lethal weapons.
