Campagnolo 8 speed / 9 speed

After an off last night my campag mirage 8 speed shifter is cracked and I maybe looking for a replacement if super gluing it back together fails. I notice that that a lot of the 9 speed shifters are cheaper than the 8 speed stuff and was wondering whether I would be able to get away with this ?

My set up is a double and it is the left shifter which has the issue.

There was little change to the left hand lever - apart from cosmetic changes - so it will work perfectly well but may feel a bit different.

Unfortunately 9 spd ergos are now fetching quite a bit.

Keep the innards as they will be quite valuable to someone.

Thanks Pete, what about the right side if say I bought a matching set of 9 speed shifters ? Otherwise I will just keep waiting for some 8's at the right price.

You may need to change quite a bit as the 9 speed shifters pulled slightly less cable for each shift so won't work with an 8 speed cassette.

Actually Joe that response was to my further question "what about the right side if say I bought a matching set of 9 speed shifters ?"

But all sorted now.
