Life would be a lot easier if all makers used the same date coding and applied it as well to all products not just cycle parts

Almost impossible to say, they must have been produced in that form for a very long time. Probably between fifties to eighties at a guess.
Can bet they are lovely and smooth.

In production from '73 to mid 80's. It's the numbers that threw up 1973.
