Camper jam.

Driving along the A5 today there were loads of VW campers of all shapes and ages heading to Camper Jam. As varied as they were they a lot of them had 2 things in common, a bloke driving with a smile on his face and a lady in the passenger seat looking glum (and probably looking at the trivago site to go somewhere she wants to go).

Hope they all have a good time.

Hm. Mr K has suggested getting a camper van several times. I've tried to be as unenthusiastic as possible.

Try getting a non-cyclist to go on a cycling holiday ...

(I gave up and agreed to a Peak District walking holiday instead. I did manage to persuade the walking non-cyclist to take my bag down on the train and I cycled down there to meet her at the cottage that we'd booked. I managed to get a mid-week morning ride done while she had a lie-in, and I cycled back again at the end of the week. So, I managed to get about 150 miles of hilly cycling in despite it being a walking trip! )

My last cycling trip was 10 days in Provence, including much wine, the odd Col and Ventoux
I was on my tod. Which was largely but sometimes a bit . But why drag your partner along on something they'll hate? Much better to let them go off and do something they like, then take the opportunity to do your thing. Then, when they come back having had a lovely time, they'll appreciate you all the more. Perhaps...

I loved going up the east coast of Australia in a motorhome. It is such a brilliant way to travel. I was with a friend which was a great hoot.

However the first time i went to Sri Lanka i spent 3 weeks with an ar******e of a boyfriend. We travelled around the island where i got stuck in and involved with all sorts of things from building a beach shack to tea picking whilst he sulked.The 4th week was spent on a tiny Maldavian island where i dreamt of him being eaten by a shark.

8 months later he was history

Next door has one, though apparently it was seen coming home on the back of a recovery lorry this week. However the mechanic arrived by bike within a couple of hours, took it away and it was back on its feet a few days later.

They seem to enjoy getting away for a night or weekend in it frequently, and I enjoy the throaty sound it makes so you always know if they are arriving home!

Same here, she won't drive mine. I even offered to hoover out and wash her car this morning while she went to the gym but it meant she would have to take the LR. The LR is sat outside the house and she is at the gym.......

A few years back a group of foreign campervans were touring the Highlands causing minor mayhem by travelling in convoy on single track roads. We had a running commentary on their progress over a couple of weeks as locals called in to a radio phone in programme with details of sightings and where they had stopped overnight etc..
It was all very lighthearted.
