Can anyone recommend a good dog forum that isn't frequented by the militant wing of Mumsnet?

Try the forum for the breed society too. Most breeds have them or maybe quite a few of them.

Buy a book on the breed and read up on it. That's what we did back in those pre internet days.

I agree and do have a book.. I also have books on bike maintenance but still enjoy a cycling forum.

apparently Mumsnet is infamous for people "piling" onto people who's views differ marginally from their own.

be very careful is googling dog forum, an extra ..ging could really open your eyes.....
