i've never had this from a driver.
but my response would almost certainly be "i do pay tax, on my 2 cars. now f*ck off".

in fact, i dont think i've ever had anything shouted at me from a driver... Must be the motorists round here, they seem quite pleasant. I had a kid cheer me on along while he was running up the street once, that was nice.

Also, does he sneer at someone who owns a classic car and gets their historic vehicle tax free?
they pollute loads but don't pay any VED.

I'm sure it's just a case of 4 wheels good, 2 wheels bad. either that or he is jealous that you are able to maintain good physical fitness without sweating away in a gym with a load of nancy-boy posers and paying through the nose for the privelidge.

yes, I agree but it would really pleas me to produce it to the anti cyclist bloke I work with, drives a Merc and thinks bikes should be in parks.

I had a bloke like that at work. When he started I said "..wheres my f***ing rebate?" He said he didnt understand so I explained what VeD actually was and said surely I was due a tax rebate  Well it either confused him or put him in his place as he shut up about it after that.

Hmmm wait, maybe we should print them up on the 'puter and display it stuck to the bike. How funny would that be?!

Besides which, your mate in the merc is a freeloading windbag. Given that cyclists earn more than the average UK citizen, they pay more taxes. That means cyclists contribute more than their fair share towards public highways, and yet they reduce the motor traffic load and the queues he experiences.

I was just thinking that. Make it look official, and have the small print say all the things mentioned here so far... Trouble is, unless all cyclists did it, some dick would say "I saw a cyclist with a tax disk, so you ought to have one!"

If someone mentions road tax specifically, of course, you can say "You pay road tax? How quaint, that hasn't existed since 1935 (or whenever it was), when Churchill abolished it...." That'll confuse them.

LOL yeah you're prolly right, in which case they'll just move on to the next moan against cyclists. Its just a case of picking on something they see as weaker and can get away with (after all its no longer pc to be racist, sexist, agist or whatever I'm sure thats why they do it:laugh:)

Never forget: we're faster, fitter & better looking. They're just upset because they're stuck in traffic, wasting expensive fuel in their rapidly depreciating car.

It's got nothing to do with the "tax" disc, anyway. My artic has a very expensive VED disc indeed and I still sometimes get grief from people simply for being in their way.
Of course, in a lorry you can simply laugh manically at them before driving over their car.

So, if you are prejudiced on race grounds you are a Racist, if on sex grounds a sexist,

So if you are prejudiced against cycles, that makes you ?

An << INSERT EXPLETIVE OF CHOICE>> ??

I do wonder, though, if a lot of the "all cyclists jump red lights, ride on the pavement, eat three babies for breakfast AND DONT PAY ROAD TAX" style posts on Have YouR SAy (and similar) aren't just an outcrop of "we can't pick on brown people or wimmin anymore so let's go for another group that we're still allowed to stereotype" mentality.
