He's only British if he wins.

Well he is in the final now.
First british man to make the final, and also only the 10th ever to make the final of all 4 slams.

Its about time he started winning a few

Bloody hell, some negativity here. He just blew away the defending champion with some amazing tennis to become only the 10th player ever to appear in all 4 Grand Slam finals, where he'll meet Djokovic who he smashed in the final of the Italian Open (also on clay) two weeks ago. Murray is unquestionably the finest tennis player ever to come out of the UK and is amongst the greatest world players ever. His downfall is he's around at the same time as three of the other greats - Djokovic, Nadal and Federer, all of whom are better than Borg, McEnroe et al.

Absofeckinlutely. In most other eras, he'd be cleaning up every week without breaking a sweat.

So you don't watch much tennis? Because there's a helluva lot more to it than Slams.

He's an absolutely world class player who would be far more highly rated if he hadn't made a joke about not supporting England.

No, my Good Lady is the tennis fan, and you're right he is a world class player, its just a shame that a lot of the time he's not quite at the level of Djokovic
Federer and Nadal.

The fact that being fourth best in the world can be regarded as failure is one of the reasons I happily avoid participating in almost anything competitive.

I remember seeing Tim Henman saying something similar.

He said to a journalist something along the lines of, "if you were told that you were the seventh best journalist in the world would you think you were a failure, or if a doctor was the seventh best doctor in the world would he be a failure?"

We'll get the same old shite in a few weeks with the England football team.

The players will be asked if they think they can win it, if they say no they'll be accused of being defeatist, and if they say yes the press will big them up until they get knocked out, then all of a sudden they'll be useless.
