Can someone recommend an inexpensive hotel/motel/hostel in Las Vegas ?

I'll be flying into Las Vegas from the UK in October for a 4 week tour.
I'd appreciate recommendations for somewhere to stay at the start and end of this tour. Not after anywhere fancy, clean, safe cheap are my main concerns. A short distance from the airport would probably be a bonus. I'd also like somewhere that will be obliging enough to look after my S&S backpack case for the duration of the trip.

there are hundreds.
Keep off the strip and there are a plethoria of cheap & cheerful, clean Travelodges, Motel 6 etc
It's all close to the airport anyway. Short cab drive away.

Have a good look on the internet for deals - you may be able to get a very cheap night at one of the famous places like Caesar's Palace. I managed it with the family at Circus Circus a few years back - cant remember what I paid but it was the cheapest stay of the entire holiday.
