I have just read about a road rage incident get the report about the speed the bike is capable of.Brilliant can i get one.
‘He had a real London accent, so we’ve called him the “raging cockney”. With a huge, expensive car like that, he probably pays a lot of road tax and assumes he has more rights on the road.’

His Domane bike is worth £3,200, weighs 7.4kg and has a top speed of 30mph. The Jaguar has a 3-litre engine, top speed of 155mph and can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in 5.9 seconds

Top two hat, 30mph really going for it then

Well my Madone has a top speed never reached yet, but its far beyond 30mph my car isn't a Jag but it will reach 150mph and burn less fuel, my road tax is just that.........tax, not to use the road, its just a tax, I do actually pay to use the road the same as most people do even if you don't drive, it comes out of everyones salary or wage so this little man on his 7.4kg Domane who drives a Jag can go back to being a sheep, my bike is a 2.1 Madone and with all its new Ultegra and carbon bits probably weighs a tad more than his Domane.........which he probably cant ride anyway as it only has a top speed of 30mph............but mine cost less, far less by about 1600 quid. bet he is a wa.......err banker type

Some years ago I was on a training camp in Southern Spain when our little group was cut up by a Merc convertible driven by a chest wig with a medallion. At the next lights half a mile down the road the occupants were utterly astonished to be torn new peanuts by our guide http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sid_Barras .

For years I kept trying to break the 30mph speed limit, (downhill I'm afraid), near a local Gatso speed camera, with the aim of waving and smiling for the camera as it went off. It only ever flashed me once, and I was having a bit of a wobble round a pothole at the time. The photo probably looked more like someone cowering on the front row of a roller coaster at Alton Towers. I have since learned that you can't get done for speeding on a bike, but that an offence of "pedalling furiously" still exists. Is this true? Anyone got a laminated copy of a court summons for that on their wall at work?

p.s. No small children or furry animals were hurt in the attempting of this feat, and I have since learned the error of my ways.

I did the same on the same bike in The Pyrenees, I just reached 55mph and fishtailed on scree. Stayed upright but slowed way down after that. Had to burn those shorts.

'Wanton and furious riding' is an old offence that can be used for horse riders or cyclists.

It can be handy for a prosecutor because most driving offences contain the phrase '...you drove a mechanically propelled vehicle...'.

A horse or a bike is not mechanically propelled, which is also why a cyclist cannot be charged with simple speeding.

Nice reply. Could "Pale Rider" actually be be the non de plume for Mr Loophole?

I think I might have been on that one! I was at Albir Gardens for 2 weeks most Marches from 2000 to 2008 and Super Sid was there every time.

I was struggling up the Col de Rates on one ride so Sid came back down to see if I were ok. I was chatting to him and suddenly seemed to get my strength back, my speed going up by about 50% without me making any more effort. I was disappointed when I eventually noticed that Sid had hold of the back of my saddle and was pushing me! I told him that I would continue at my own pace and he and the group did not need to wait for me. I knew the way back and had tools, spares etc.

Very possibly. It was at Albir Gardens, although I can't remember which year. The other highlight was when I put my name down for a ride on "one of those new Ti frames" which Robert Millar was notionally testing - he handed it to me with a grudging "wasted on you, ye fat git". True, but uncalled for!
