Why would you need them, you think a gas bottle wouldn't get you noticed, if only for the potential damage you could inflict on another vehicle. No he's a savvy cyclist who knows how to get noticed and therefore space on the road!!!

That will get you noticed I agree, but either by the men in blue or someone maybe wanting to get you off the road for your own safety, perhaps even your own room too. I've been on a big cycling event where someone balanced a cone and it certainly made them easy to spot in a crowd!
