Canal and river towpaths

hi, my first post. I intend to do all my cycling from now on along towpaths. My Specialised hybrid has Alexrim 622x18 rims. Will these be tough enough for the sometimes stony and bumpy paths ? Also which tyres to fit these rims would be best ? I can't afford to buy another bike and I like the Specialised too much to sell it.

I have specialised Amarillo tyres on mine and handle the canal and towpaths ok so far
