Had a quick chat with a girl on the way home yesterday evening. Man, she was quick for a girl!

Never been passed by a girl before (and I've been cycling for years), but this one took some keeping up with.

Hopefully I'll see her again because a) she was fit (that's good looking fit), and ;) she'll keep me on my toes!

It's Political Correctnes gown maaaaaad!!!

A little calm please!

In these days of 'PC' witchhunts, perhaps we need to exercise a little caution. Despite what certain self-appointed representatives say: men are always going to find women sexually attractive, and vice-versa; and initial impressions shall continue to be predominantly shaped by ones physical appearance, against biological indicators before cultural.

Whilst expressing ones libidinous desires for the opposite sex is generally frowned upon, unless the sentiment matches the occasion, surely it is not so bad to throw some in such harmless slang in a casual-forum (which I imagine this is).

Finally, his surprise to be overtaken by a woman is at best mildly amusing (if not a little cocky), and at worst rather juvenile. Is it really THAT offensive - especially when compared to what is currently politicly debated under the banner of common-sense?

In short, lighten up, smile and shrug it off, it's not as if he's trying to remove the vote...(a subject we shall save for another occasion )

But would you give her one though?

chap, I am not one for being overly PC but I get the same unrelentless mindlessness from guys whether I am on the bike or just out and about. Come on fellas - get a life. There are biological indicators that mean that individuals will be attracted by someone's appearance - it's just the ensuuing behaviour that is tiresome as it really does border on being an acceptable form of knuckle dragging.

Somehow, it's irritating that women are judged on appearance more often then not and not usually anything else. Men don't have this same problem.

I reckon the OP wouldn't have even talked to her if she wasn't attractive...how sad is that? So this is not a case of being PC.

We cannot control others behaviour...well we can persuade them, but I seriously doubt that anything said in this thread would have done anything to convince the OP to think otherwise.

Alas it does seems that the current game of choice is for everybody to play the perpetual victim. How do you know what it is like to be a man in today's society? Are we (men) REALLY treated respectfully, and free from being judgement based on our appearance? I think Fathers For Justice, and a lot of tubby men might have a few things to say about that one.

You are jumping to conclusions about what the OP might or might not have done, and there is no solid base for that assertion other than he found somebody attractive. Plus why should he have to stop and chat to a lady he does not find attractive, one wouldn't expect others to stop and chat to everyone they met. Surely attraction is the discriminating clause that provokes one to take such action.

Nonetheless, let us waste not another minute arguing such trivialities. Back to Cycle Commuting!

This is why it is important to have a dialogue about it.

Being a block of meat is the eyes of some people does not make me behave like a victim- indeed that is you being presumptious.

Fathers for justice - I agree that fathers should have the same rights as mothers but this hardly has anything to do with appearance more gender.

Indeed, the OP shouldn't be made to talk to unattractive people  but it's just placing so much emphasis on appearances - women or men - sad state of affairs that our culture has become so image obsessed.

But yes...back to cycle commuting!

OK, let's just get something straight here.

Firstly, I was really impressed with her speed, above all else - if you bother to read my post, you'll see that that's what made me notice her.

Also, there was no chance that she'd beat me, and I wouldn't care if she did - I'm sure there are plenty of girls out there that could, I've just never come across any.

I wasn't gawping mindlessly, I had a quick chat with her at the lights in Snaresbrook. I said something like: "Blimey, you're not hanging around - you keep getting in front of me, you're really quick!"

She laughed and said, "It's probably the Canonndale", or something like that, and then we moved off.

And yeah, she was a nice looking girl, what's wrong with me saying that?

You should have told her she was nice looking to her face Absinthe.

Why no chance that she'd beat you- go for a bit of commuter racing..makes the day go faster!!

I think the annoying thing on CC at the moment is truckloads of phwoarr girls posts and just the inane comments so your post was the straw that broke the camels back!

Yeah, imagine the uproar here if I'd have actually told her she was good looking - you lot would have had me up for sexual assault.

She wouldn't have beaten me because I was faster than her - plain and simple. That said, she was very quick in my experience.

Anyways, I'm glad you've calmed down and seen my post for what it was, rather than making me out to be something I'm not. It's very easy to take text the wrong way and a little thought before you start slagging people off on here is always a good thing - especially if you're going to slag me off.
