I'm looking for a hybrid bike for my wife and have narrowed down to 2 available options:
Cannondale Quick (Woman's 2) or Canyon Roadlite SL 8.0

I'm specifically looking for an alu version (with carbon fork), disk breaks and preferably 1x drivetrain (Apex 1).

With Cannondale I lake 1x drivetrain and slightly more slack geometry but dislike QR rear hub (frame which can not be upgraded), wheels (that can be upgraded) and crank and BB - also could be upgraded.

With Canyon it looks it's lighter, not sure about wheels, has through axle also on the frame. But has more steep geometry (looks more racy which is not preferred) and has 2x drivetrain (Ultegra which is good, but still prefer 1x for simplicity).

Any advice?

Which one did she prefer on a good test ride? That’s the most important thing, not spec :okay:

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Both bikes are fairly evenly matched I'd have thought, the main difference down to geometry.
Despite your preference for the 1x remember it will give you bigger jumps between the gears. If you can try both.
Whats wrong with QR hubs ?
In future when posting asking for views on comparisons if it's possible please post links so members don't have to search around, plus it identifies the particular model you're talking about.

@Cycleops - what is your view on geometry? Which one is more suitable for a "newbie" on sports cycling
and QR - I come from MTB world so trough axle is preferable (I own Cannondale Slate and Jekyll) - might be relevant on the other hand "future proof" for interchangeability - but not a deciding factor...
Re gears it's again about "newbie" - less fuss with shifting and Apex 1 version is actual slightly better ratio for hills (and worse for speed on flat, but that is of no concern)

@vickster - unfortunately no way to test here, otherwise we would test and select ...

Why can't you test? What country are you in?

Can you get Whyte bikes where you are? Their R7 fast flatbars are superb

Let your wife be fully engaged in the process, advise, not drive her in the direction you want her to go. It's for her not you, even if you're paying for it

Canyon have showrooms in Germany I believe

That black bike is hideous for starters

@Solecyclist has/had a Canyon flatbar. I don’t think it has been a great experience
