Thanks for the review.
Did you put mudguards on it? Which ones, how easily did they go on.
I won't be changing anything on the bike for weight or performance reasons, only it they fail or turn out to be too fiddly to keep right. I predicted both with the Promax brakes, but it's good to read that you're not having issues with them so far.
Why are you planning to change the wheels?
I have not put mudguards on. I can look but i think there are mounts and with 25c tires as standard i would say there is plenty of room.
The Promax brakes have been ok so far, and they have had some abuse (we have some 25% hills round here!!) and i think they use the same pads as BB5. I have backed them off a bit but that is my preference.
Wheels are not that bad, but i am thinking in the summer i may go for a better set and keep the standard ones for winter crud. They are about the same as every other fitted from new wheelset, nothing bad but not great.
I have to admit i am a Cannondale fan (i also have a plastic Super6) but the Synapse really is a good all rounder. If you dont want/need discs there are better bikes (CAAD 8, Defy 1 etc) but if you want disc then the choices are limited.
If i had the cash i would have gone for the Ultegra version (the same frame is used on both the 105 disc and Ultegra disc) but the 105 is slick and cheaper to replace if required.
See if you can have a ride on one.
PS. the stock saddle, it is the best i have ever had
