car boot sale purchase

So I've purchased this roadie today from a car boot sale, cycled back home and around my area a bit, and i love it, much faster than my old MTB, and much lighter, just need to get used to the gear shifting.

All i think it needs is a new saddle and a new paint job.

Merckx sold his name for use on cheap bikes too so it could well be nothing fancy although it still looks like a nice old steel frame road bike and if you like it that's the main thing.
And if you got it for a steal from a car boot sale, even better!!

I thought that was only in the last few years and that they were only "in house" bikes in the '70s and '80s.

Looks good, what's going on with the rear brake lever though? It's not fully returned in that picture seemingly?

I have a similar one. 79 ish rides nicely fairly light for a steel frame. Some were made by Falcon. Well worth a few quid from the car boot.

Yeah, It looks a bit dodgy to me too, i'm not even sure myself, going to need to take a closer look at it.

Looks nice as it is. You could touch up any scratches, but i like the silver with yellow and blue. The seats dodgy tho.

You could sell it to a swede for a mint.

I would suggest a Falcon as I think they put non quick release on the back wheels, also the lugs do not look that good. Either way if it rides well and was cheap it should still put a smile on your face.
