My partner finally has found a car she's happy with. A 60plate 1.6 Focus Mk2 FSH with new pads/discs and cambelt water pump etc all receipted. There's a just a couple of issues need some attention, cracked rear fog light(seller will reimburse, sourced already), the NS wing mirror needs nipping up as it's slightly loose. A good clean inside and out to my standard...it wont last
I've booked it in for four new boots tomorrow, I've gone for Goodyear vector 4 seasons at £323 as it's currently on some old winter tyres and the noise is terrible and they're on the way out both in tread and perishing. I was going to go for the CC gen 3 but the Goodyear reviews state they're softer and quieter, the cars ride is slightly firm compared to her now crumpled Note(now available at Copart St Helens).

He wont be so hard when Mavis fits him up and gets him sent to chokey!

Just don't accidentally shut it in the door.

Finally some fine weather.

Spent a good proportion of the day changing all the pads on MrsF's car and changing the fluid. Whilst at it gave the wheels a good clean and repainted the inside of the wheels as there was some bubbling of the black paint. Also undersealed the suspension components (buzz weld).
The MOT said the rear pads were wearing thin. They were not, neither was the front.

Strip it. If it doesn't help new caliper. It wont pass a MOT as it is. You may yet fail on tyres as well if overly worn.

I wasn't overly bothered about it failing only on tyres - they'd be changed and it retested before it gets used again anyway.

Finally got around to stripping it.

The caliper felt fine and pressed back pretty easy, however there was some light rust around the piston and it had clearly been wet with water even though all the seals looked fine. Even through it pushed back nicely the FOS caliper felt even more silky smooth so decided to go with a new caliper (and of course new decent pads and disks) which all in with a slide kit came to £170.

While bedding the pads and disks seung past the MOT place and the tester reckons the tyres will pass with advice. So it's back to plan A) if it passes MOT new tyres and a full tank.

Tyres are a bit odd too, normally the rears last at least me twice as long as my fronts these rears were fitted at the same time as the front and are not far behind on wear. They're certainly not going to last another set. I fitted the Michelin Fuel saver tyres last time and haven't been overly impressed with wear, noise or fuel.

Changed the air filter and spark plugs on my wife’s 2010 Fiesta yesterday. Upgraded to iridium plugs so hopefully longer before I have to do that again. Was so much easier to do it on that than my old 2004 Fiesta, changing headlight bulbs is way more of a faff on the later model though!

Undecided on whether to do the oil and oil filter myself or pay someone else to do the messy job. It’s already been an expensive month but the road I live on was redressed a couple of years ago and you still get covered in loose bitumen covered stones as soon as you lay down.
