car hire in spain

We go every year to a villa in Javea (half way between Valencia and Alicante). Previous years have been easy and cheap but this year we had the same problem, massive supply/demand thing going on. We paid the best part of £ 500.00 for 11 days !!!

Unfortunately there is no real alternative option for us, the Villa is an hour from Murcia and Almeria Airports and its on a golf course, 11k from the beach and any shops, have walked it once early morning (ok so it was when the nightclub closed at 7.30am) and its pretty much an arrid desert and it almost killed me, where abouts are you going? Taxi's in Spain can be pretty unreliable and pricey if your not in touristy places.

Its on the Valle de Este golf course (well worth a round there if you play) its about 5k outside Mojacar I think its about 30-40 miles south of la Manga.

We are staying in Villamartin in a private villa.

I have tried ringing and e-mailing autogolfspain to find out why they are so cheap (me being an untrusting kind of guy) and the phone is never answered and the e-mail has not been replied to .....hence i think i might not bother with this one and just get a transfer from the airport.

Yeah I had that uneasy sense about the site... am going to try to contact them shortly but fingers are crossed, £170 is a lot of booze and food out there.

Nice to know there is a reason why I am about to spend the best part of £400 for a 3 door Fiesta for 14 days!

Try pepecar.com I always found them by far the cheapest when I lived in Spain (they're sort of a Spanish EasyJet car rental).

A quick check has them at €220 for a focus in the Almeria region.

I heard on the radio this morning that there is a Europe wide shortage of hire cars as the industry didn't expect as many tourists as there has turned out to be.

Thanks for the link, they seem cheaper than many so will remember it for next year, but none available from Murcia Airport.
