Carbon assembly paste-do I really need it? (my seat post does NOT slip)

I do not have any slipping problems with the seat tube. Everything is ok.

When I got the bike (alluminium frame/carbon seat post), I read the owner`s manual. It advised removing the seat post every 3 months to apply dynamic assembly paste. At the time, I had assumed the reason was to prevent the carbon seizing to the alluminium. It now transpires that the the reason for the paste is only to prevent slipping. Am I correct?

Carbon assembly paste adds a level of friction which means that the fitting the carbon item is fitted into doesn't need as much torque to achieve a non slip fit. Used on bars, the stem doesn't need to be as tight, and it prevents flaring of seat tubes. With a droppet seat post like a reverb, the assembly paste is essential, because if you tighten the seatclamp too much the post stops working properly.

It isn't expensive as a small tube will last forever.
