Well, if you think about flex it possibly does, but I'm not a structural engineer. I suppose decent modelling software could show you quickly. You can also compare say the Fuji Roubaix against the Fuji Newest.
I bought the Jamis Xenith Comp (£1,200 down from £1,500) as a first carbon road bike and have really enjoyed it. I decided to spend a bit more and upgrade the wheels but certainly not essential. Pretty good recent review in Cycling Active.
