I am thinking of changing my Cube cross race back to a rode bike. I am interested in one of the Ribble Special edition Sportive 365 Shimano. I ride on 98% rodes and not really using the Cube for what its intended and miss my road bike.
Wanting to cycle longer road rides, and through winter plus sportives in Lakes so questions are......
Is it a good bike ?
Would the 7005 Ali be a better choice?
Would the Reynolds 525 Steel @ under 1k be a good choice ?
Pro's and con's of Carbon over ali and especially is a Carbon bike ok for UK winter use or the 7005 Aluminium better ?

Finally anyone want a Cube 2013 cross race ?????^_^

Will take some more pics when home, this was taken last week when out. Spec of bike is as per Cube site. its totally standard. Bought new from Wheelbase in Staveley around September/October and have receipt of sale for proof. Probable done around 150 ish miles on it. Was just shy of a grand new sooooooooo I would probably be looking £650

It's your money but for £1000 you are not getting an appreciable increase in performance over your Cube. Stick some 25mm slicks on and save yourself a wedge.

Di consider doing that VamP, but its more about a bike suitable for the riding I do. The Cube is a crosser, canti brakes, slightly different gearing etc etc. It's not about making a step up and getting more appreciable gains although I totally understand what your saying.

I have a Race Pro. It's perfectly competent as a road bike with the right tyres. Better at being a road bike than a cross bike in actual fact. If you can't get along with the brakes, consider fitting Avid Ultimates. They're as much of a brake as you'll ever need. Still cheaper than changing bikes.

I have a mate who did a couple of long distance rides on his crosser with slicks on and said it was just hard hard work at times. On his road bike it was much more enjoyable.I don't seem to get on with the cantilever brakes, but thats by no means my reason for change and wanting advice about the Ribble. If no interest in Cube then will try the avid Ultimates option. I just seem to prefer out and out road bikes and more long distance rides.

I've got a Ribble New Sportive carbon, well happy with it. The only thing that stops me riding it in crappy weather is the fact I've got another bike as well so only use the Ribble for nice rides and sportives.
