I have just had a call from the trial preparation unit from our local Police station. The driver has been spoken to and denies any knowledge of the incident.
However, the guy from the trial preparation unit, who has watched the YouTube video, wants me to send a copy of the unedited video on a cd, so he can attach it to a file being sent to the CPS to determine whether or not to proceed with a prosecution for careless driving.
This has gone alot further than I expected, I thought I would just be another statistic but apparently the video evidence has helped progress the case.

Terrible, you must have been leaning on the car to stay upright!
At the very least the driver can't deny it when faced with the clip, even if it goes no further than that.

Have the Police told him it is on video? naturally I suspect not, hence the denial.

Will be interesting to see his reaction if this is the case and he is shown the video.

It will be interesting to see what comes of this case.

I had one of these in a residential estate. The driver saw me once he was mostly into my lane and swerved sharply to give me more room.

The smidsy gave me a scare but the driver was extremely apologetic. As he pulled along side he wound his window down and could say sorry enough times. I accepted his apology and we carried on. He even waved at me later as I overtook him in slow traffic a little further on.

I would like to think the episode was a positive learning experience for the driver and no real harm was done.

Silly thing is the driver had plenty of time to pull out without causing any problem to the cyclist. I wonder why he hesitated. I'm sure he didn't but it almost looks as if he cut up the cyclist on purpose.

He didn't even save any time as he was held up at the junction waiting to turn right, to top it all there was nothing behind me, so if had waited a few seconds nothing interesting would have happened.

My hands were clamped on the brakes, making me slow down as fast as possible with locking any wheels up. Very glad I had just fitted some new Kool Stops the night before.<br>

I've had a few cars similarly pulling out of those junctions but they always stay in the right hand lane and pull over into the left lane once well clear. Although not a great show of driving ability, I am in no danger so have no complaint against these drivers.

its not as though its dark or raining

I wonder if his view was obscured by the "A" pillar. I used to have the same type of car. You can lose quite a bit of coverage if you take a passive approach. The proverbial OAP stiff-necked method. OTOH he might well just not have been bothered......

Looking at the video, i wondered the same. Poor excuse potentially) for the driver cos we've all got blind spots in a car. I physically lean forward at a R/A to get that extra view right in case theres a cyclist that was blind to me.
Also, was that his horn, or do you have an airzound BRSU ?
If it was his horn...how can he deny knowledge of the incident. Him sounding it determines he DID see you.

It was my horn, a little late as I was preoccupied with the brakes. I know he saw me as he was looking straight at me making eye contact just before he started to pull out.

Blimey! I'm impressed you have got the response from the police! I've had a few of those in my time (on video of course), though I never thought to report them. To be honest I still wouldn't. Not because I don't think they deserve, at least a warning, but that reporting it takes time etc, and I don't have much spare.
