Blimey! I'm impressed you have got the response from the police! I've had a few of those in my time (on video of course), though I never thought to report them. To be honest I still wouldn't. Not because I don't think they deserve, at least a warning, but that reporting it takes time etc, and I don't have much spare.

It was the definite eye contact then secondary move across the lane that made me seriously consider reporting it, plus having to slam on the brakes and move sharply to the left made my stubborn mind up.
I'm impressed I got this response, I was waiting for my "not going to take it any further letter" to show up some time soon.
It is only the third time I have reported something like this to the Police in nine months, always when I felt I was very real danger of coming a cropper.

I think his view was obscured by the A pillar too BUT that is no excuse, you should know where your blind spot is. Truth is they were probably too busy checking for cars each way to look out for a cyclist.

Great sound effects though! not the horn... the sound of the squeal of your brakes... just confirms how hard you had to brake to avoid the accident.

The willingness to pursue this makes me think that the guy might have previous, as the incident (although bad) doesn't immediately strike me as one that the police would be all that interested in.

Maybe I'm just deeply cynical though.

I am also as deeply cynical but hopefully I will be proved wrong.

Hi,

Good luck with your case.

Another angle I wanted to add was that the denial could be genuine. Whilst the incident was no doubt of a great danger to you and sticks out in your mind, he probably wasn't in any great danger. If he does a lot of driving for example, he may find that through his or someone else's fault that he gets into many scrapes (i.e. imagine how often a taxi driver in London must get beeped at).
I'm not excusing what happened, just suggesting that the denial may be genuine.

I agree the denial could be genuine, it happened two months ago, I know I probably could not remember what happened while commuting in my boring car on a certain day two months ago.

I received a letter from the Police this morning stating the investigation had been completed and that the driver had been cautioned for careless driving.
