A Prussic loop is as good as anything for tensioning up some rope to secure a load. As for the Alpine butterfly that is used for tying in to the middle of a rope on a glacier. Used because it deals better if put under shock from either direction. If you just want a loop to pass the rope through as a pulley mechanical advantage then a simple overhand is as good as anything. As above clove hitches for securing the end to hooks, poles etc.

I gave up on trying to learn and manage to memorise knots a while ago.
Adjustable bungees and rok straps for me - I can secure a ton of stuff with those - solid as a rock yet easy to extract stuff/adjust.
