Hi all,

Recently picked up a Carlton race bike, I've made a video about it below.

Could anyone recommend a front derailleur that is in keeping with the bike? And also any recommendations on classic tyres too?

Cheers!
Mike

Nice bike.
Is that a Huret rear mech? Sachs Huret front deraileurs are available on flebay. Both top pull and bottom pull. What do you require? You may need a cable guide to go with it.
The Chainrings and cranks look like recent additions. What name is stamped on them.
Carriadice saddlebags and panniers are still made in Lancashire.

Lovely bike, I would recommend Panaracer Pasela tyres they're available in a 27 x 1 1/4. I have just fitted a set on my similar vintage Claud Butler.

That's a classy looking Carlton, video not playing on my ancient tablet but the seat stays look very "Flyer".

Back then kit was used that worked well, handed down or looked nice. The older Hurret has a small cage and the chainset looks 42-42 ish so might be a challenge. When I started front chainrings had 2 teeth difference lol. 46-48 for example. I'd choose something a bit more modern?
