We get 2/ 3 sets every year- we always keep the boring celebrations sweets for them!

Having people turn up to sing Hark the Herald Angels Sing off-key on your doorstep is one of the great Christmas traditions.

Yebbut it was embarrassing to do, and probably equally embarrasing for the householders who have to stand there and pretend to enjoy it (or equally annoying for those who just want some peace!).

We dont get carol singers, but we do have the local Roundtable pulling Santa's sleigh round the roads, the kids like to see that.

I know when I used to sing in a few choirs that all the local groups used to meet up in the hospital on Xmas Eve and walk around the wards singing. I've never experienced it from a patients perspective but they've told me it was good to hear to sound of the carols travelling along the corridors as we got closer. I presume it's still done. I don't live in Scunthorpe anymore so don't know for certain.

Well, I imagine that it may have been slightly better than an enema at least, hence why they were pleased!!

none round here for years, but we don't get penny for the guy either. We used to go with the local boys brigade and sing in the old folks homes nearby. The residents seemed to really enjoy it and got into the spirit singing along and dishing out sweets and drinks for the kids. When our pal moved on, the new leader just wasn't interested at all.
